It Depends on the coach some want 2nd base to take the throw or SS will take the throw but its mostly SS who takes it.

usually its short stop and 2nd covers but it does depend who is faster

On my team, our 2nd base is better so she covers, then SS backs her up, then center backs her up

Does depend on the coach, but SS really is the better choice when the throw is usually coming on the right side of the base and SS can reach out left and has a better angle. 2B player would be running to their right and have to turn left to catch the ball. 2B should be the back-up just on the grass and then CF the 2nd back-up

Hey Sean.
We have our SS take the throw because she is moving in that direction. 2B (Sarah) is the back up in case of over throw. The only time this changes, is if they have runners on 1st, & 2nd. Our SS backs up 3rd and Sarah take the throw at 2nd. -
It all depends on the coach because it could really be either way but ss is really the best way to go because if the 2nd baseman covered the throw they would have a longer way and they would have to run right in the basepath which could result in interferance where the ss has a clear path to the base but what the 2nd baseman does is they back up the throw as well as the center feilder
