Question
I think I really messed up a muscle from cheerleading and don't know what to do...
Okay I've been cheering like crazy recently, both for my all-star team and my high school team. And I think all this activity is taking a toll on my muscles, or something. I recently did a simple toe-touch at practice 2 weeks ago, and ever since I did it a muscle in my upper leg/groin area has been hurting really badly. A few people on my team says it's happened to them before, and the medical coordinator at my gym said it should be fine, but it hasn't stopped hurting since then.
Does anyone know if this is normal? I feel like I can't do jumps well anymore without it hurting. It's awful.

Sounds like you pulled your hip flexer. It is a common in cheerleading. Chances are you were not fully stretched before jumping or tumbling, Try not to jump or tumble for at least two weeks, ice, ibuprofen, and use bio freeze or doctor hoty's.

As a personal trainer and former collegiate cheerleader I will tell you the most important thing to do is:
1. Warm Up,
2.THEN stretch!
This will seriously decrease these type of injuries. Often times injuries such as the one you are describing come from trying to stretch muscles before they are properly warmed up. I hate to see cheerleaders walk in and immediately start stretching...this is just asking for injury. Sorry to here that you have an injury. -
if u mean pulled a muscle then stretch it if u mean likke broke then go see a doctor
