I tell my boys practice everyday, even if it is 10 minutes and always try different angles. The more you have a ball in your hands, the better you will be able to handle it.. You can definitely become a great shooter. Also try shooting from far away, this will build you skill level.

Having coached boys from third grade through high school, the key is practice. But make sure that you have a strong foundation in proper form. One drill I've used and you've probably seen it before, is to set up 10 different locations equally around the court and take one shot from each. Work this over and over again, increasing the speed at which you do it. Also, when you are practicing shooting, follow your shot to the basket. Don't shoot and just watch it, follow it for a possible rebound.

The biggest problem that young shooters have, and sometimes even pros, is that they push the ball up with two hands. Watch the NBA, the correct form is shooting with just one hand, the shooting hand and the other acting as a stabilizer. Just for the sake of conditioning and muscle memory, have your student do some drills with there non-shooting hand behind there back. IT WORKS!

As they say above: PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! Make sure that you do your shooting on the move, going hard and at different speeds. Try to have someone help you by just getting a hand up to shoot over. It is easy to shoot and make a basket with no one guarding you. You should shoot 100 shots each and every day.
Good Luck.
