So something you might wanna try is pointing your toes && when you stretch also point your toes . Also when you start your jump stand up on your tippy toes then use your legs make it seem like your sitting in your jump & lastly dont have such a hard ending land right on your tip toes so it looks neat.. Trust me it hepls i was the only freshmen to make Vasity this year.. Always -Christine

what i did when i tried out for my ninth grade tryouts was everyday for fifteen minutes i put two pound ankle weights on my ankles and did jumps with them on. do ten jumps.. (make sure you stretch and yes it will be difficult) but then take them off and immediately do ten regular toe touches. the difference in weight will trick your mind and make it seem so much easier. you will go higher and higher after every day you practice. works like a charm. p.s. weights arent espensive you can tie frozen pea bags to your ankles too.

Google Search or have your parents help you on the following. REMEMBER GOOD FORM IS IMPERATIVE!
Calf raisers, single leg, and double leg.
Standing double leg jumps 15 for 5 sets
Cardio box steps 2 min rep for 3 sets
Bunny hops with feet together 2 min rep for 3 sets
Skipping, explode as high and far as you can. 40 yard reps, 4 sets.
Do this 3 days per week with good stretching on the off days.
Jump will increase! -
Girl...i am in the same boat as you dont worry.
i took refrence from this artical and is very happy with these answers -

Calf Raises. Standing on the edge of a step (at the bottom step of stairs in your house for instance) or solid box approximately 6" tall. Start with your heels hanging off the edge of the step or box so that just the 'balls' of your feet are on the step. While holding on to the railing or nearby wall lower your heels toward the ground as far as you are comfortable. Then raise your heels as high as you comfortably can, do this by lifting yourself up using the balls of your feet and your toes to press on the step or box. do this 10-15 times for 2 sets 3 times per week for 2 weeks. Then go up to 20-30 for 2 sets for 3 days per week. After that go to performing the same exercise using only 1 leg at a time starting with the lower number of reps and sets.

heyyyyy u should deffently do the splits a lot so u jump higher thats what i do when i lack on jumping!!!!!!

do leg lifts,
sit on the floor in a v-sit and raise on leg at a time into the air and control it on the way back down then do both, do 3 sets of ten atleast once a day and your jumps will improve rapidly, if you start to feelt that getting easy make circles with your leg and do 3 sets of 10 on each leg and then both. you'll have great jumps in no time -
You've gotten some good advice here. Definitely do stretching like splits, pikes and straddles, and exercises that work your abs and legs. (Your legs lift your body into the air, but your abs lift your legs into position. So work on both.) You can probably find a few more ideas by googling "drills and exercises to improve your cheerleading jumps."
As for jumping with weights, that is a big no-no because you can really hurt yourself doing that. However, you can use them while doing leg lifts.

Get or trampionle or something you can jump on and practice your jumps and you'll notice that your jumps got higher. It helps!

You have to jump! Practice jumping first with no toe touch and just get it super high! Then after your jump is high add the toe touch, herky, and pike!
-
build up your thigh muscles and practice practice practice!
