I know that the manufacturer's want you to think but the best one for you is the one that feels good to you. Some are head-heavy, balanced or head-light. So, for the starter, get the one that feels best to you that is in the right price range.

Hope that makes sense... visit a big store and get the feel of as many as you can and then go to another store. When you find the one you like, check it out online to compare prices and get the one that fits you....

Mr. Bryant is correct. There is no better racquet than the one that fits you best. Most specialty tennis shops offer racquet demo programs. For something like a $25 demo fee, you can try out as many racquets as you want, and then your demo fee can go toward the purchase of your racquet. This is the best way I can think of to find one that you like.

One thing to be aware of is that loads of research has demonstrated that head-light racquets are bad for, and can even contribute to, tendinitis (tennis elbow). It can be even worse when proper stroke technique is not used. That's my one piece of advice from personal experience and from reading up on the subject.

White is right! (I love writing that...!) Seriously, the IMproper grip and mechanics will ruin the best racquet on the market every time. Take the instruction and get the mechanics to stay healthy and keep having fun playing the game we all love....
