    Josh:
In this case, you get what you pay for. If you want the best it will cost more than mediocre.

    Josh,

When looking for equipment, the best doesn't always mean the most expensive. For example, the Hammer Vibes are excellent choices for a lower cost but still having a reactive ball that has hard hitting power and "hooking" potential. Comparatively speaking, the Vibe cost is usually under $100 and the high end for a Hammer JigSaw would cost about $150 or so. This is not to say that one is better than the other, but there are bowling balls out there that are excellent choices but more affordable.

    Good luck!

Well... it all has to do with coverstocks, hook potential, and soooo many more things. Coverstock is the outside of the ball. The hook potential is a number that the company makes the ball rates it. The higher the number the more it will hook. If you go on a website and you go down to where you usually see a lot of numbers, that is where you will normally find the hook potential. If you look right above it, it is usually out of a certain number. The closer the rated number is to that number, the more the ball will hook. Another factor is the core of the ball. The core is basically the inside of the ball. The ball has weight inside of it in different places which is what makes it hook. The core can get VERY complicated so this is just a basic definition to help you understand. A mid-priced ball that I highly recomment is the Freeze. This ball has a hook to it and is a excellent ball but is on the lower end of higher performance balls. Hope this helps!
