Josh:
If you were working with a USBC certified coach they would help you develop a pre-shot routine. Personally, I don't look at either at the screen or bowl on the spot as you have inquired.I have developed a pre-shot routine that works for me and my bowling style. It allows me the ability to verify where I'm standing on the approach (check my feet) then work my way up my body performing a mental check list of items in my stance. Once I have completed this check (takes about 3-4 seconds) my eyes lock on my target on the lane. Once this happens it time to go...
The monitors at most bowling centers provide nice graphics and many will even attempt to show where the ball should be placed to pick up most spares. However, this is a very generic response to picking up spares. Working with a coach, in the long run, will be more productive for you.
Good luck!

Normally people say that if its the 10th frame and u have bowled 2 of the three strikes and u look up thr b4 you bowl ur third ball you wont get it but i have never found tht to be true lol

Looking at the screen they say will throw you off your game. They say it will cause you to become cocky....or think you are bowling really well. Or cause you to mess your game up.

I try not to look at the screen but sometime it is a force of habit. It really throws me off, weather I am doing good or bad. I recommend not lokking at the screen if possible.
