a good way to condition is to go to the gym/EM long distance running or short sprints. doing build ups are really good to.

Start with a little long distance then continue to interval training. strengthen your core and legs, back and triceps

If you want to stay in sport and stay in shape, since you love the competition so much, try swimming. It will work all of your muscles. Try both short distances of 50 - 100m and longer distance of 500 or more. The shorter distances will work your muscles hard as you get faster, and the longer distances will build your endurance. Make sure you do butterfly stroke and train it properly before taxing your muscles with hard laps in that stroke. It will work some of the muscles for hook shots and spikes and serves. The breast stroke and butterfly kick will help build leg muscles for jumping and overall keep you in great shape, especially if you get in at least 100 laps a day. If you need any proof of what kind of shape it can put you in just take a look at Michael Phelps

Swimming is an excellent answer. It works all of the muscles and is a zero impact form of conditioning. I swim, and have for 15 years.

The most recent discussions on athletic fitness suggest that long distance running is NOT recommended. It makes you slower and punishes your knees. Rather, short sprints as fast as you can are more recommended.

I would also suggest that you investigate plyometrics that work on the specific movements of your chosen sport. If you do plyometric drills you will not only get/remain in shape, but get better at the sport(s) that you play as well.

Is there a posibility for a person who is only going to be about 5'8" to play front row on a college volleyball team? 5'7" or even 5'6"?
