Are there any parents out here that have had their son or daughter play down a level in hockey? How difficult was it to get a waiver?

My son is currently playing on a Squirt B team. He's 10 and has only been skating for four months. He is at the age cut-off to become a Pee-Wee next season. His coach, my wife and I don't believe he's ready to go to the next level. I'm wondering what kinds of challenges might be out there by holding him back and how difficult it is to petition to have my son play down a level for one year.

Sounds like it wouldnt be too hard to get a waiver, so long as he isnt much larger than most of the kids on th younger team. It can also really help him to develop physically and mentally without feeling pressured. Good Luck

Thanks Angela. We're hoping we collected the necessary information to petition our state hockey association for the waiver. So far they have been resistant to our request.
