Now that the Olympic Games, or rather the Winter Olympic Games are underway some people might wonder just where this whole thing got started. The Ancient Olympics, as many are undoubtedly aware, began in Ancient Greece, somewhere in the 8th or 9th century BCE. (Before Common Era, the new notation the same as BC.) The difference, for a little Olympic Trivia, is that those games weren't all about some bunch of twirling teenagers from Romania these were games for tough people. The most popular events were boxing, wrestling, and pankratia a form of ancient MMA where fatalities were common. I wouldn't get payday loans or whatever to go the modern games, and the ancient games would now be illegal.
