There are these training balls that are a little bit heavier that you can throw 5-10 minutes a day.

    Desmond.

You should work on your shoulder strength and core strength first. I would start by using your own body weight. Don't get into weights. If you are looking for a good head-start, check out our 12-Minute Shoulder and Elbow Endurance Solution DVD on my website..... www.bioforcebaseball.com. It's a good place to start.

Feel free to ask more questions if you have them.

    Thanks,

    Coach Bill Mooney

Have someone hit you fungos and make long acurate throws back to the hitter. Never throw more than 50 times per session. Don't forget about strengthining your mid section and legs, they are just as important as your arm.

    Hi Desmond
I would take Mr.Mooney's advice he seem's to be quiet good at this stuff...
Just my take on a few thing's but understand I'm not solely a pitching coach
and really it's a differant view point that I'm comming with... I am a paid umpire for High School baseball and softball... Pitching is much more than a strong arm and leg's... It's also being smart and clever...
    1. do a pre-game evaluation of the team you are going up against with the help of your parent's or coach... maybe this is the second time that you will be playing this team...
    2. during the game understand that your work isn't done when you get back to the dugout but check with your coach the line up for the next 4 batter's that you will face and you yourself should have a little info on them
    3. with the surport of your parent's ask the coach to keep a pitch count when you pitch or your parents can... it's easely done there is even a place in the scorebook to do this... there is several things that can be noticed if done correctly but one of the most noticeable, are they swinging at the first pitch or not... some coaches will tell there players not to swing till they have a strike on them in the early inning's ... get that first pitch in there... good pitchers get ahead in the count...
    4. NOTICE this is some advance stuff but the main idea about this is to get yourself in a routine that works well for you ... whatever it is and ask for help
5.control control control and changing speed will make your fast ball seem ever so faster ... it takes work to do so... there is a thing about control and there is so much more that i can't do here but one thing is this... it's what we call Love Your Glove ... your glove should stay tucked to the inside of your body after you pitch the ball... if it swings out away from you, you will have trouble with control...
    6. umpires will make mistakes it's part of the game... if you think a pitch was a strike and he call's it a ball don't just give up on that location... maybe next time he'll call it a strike and then on for the remainder of the game
    7. one last thing ... when you do decide to fire one in there do so with good mechanics... I have seen so many pitchers warm up, and looking so good and tighten up when a batter step's in ... they have a big bat and our trying hard to hit that ball and your job is trying to get them out...such is baseball
PS remember to Love Your Glove you are the first line of defense out there and having your glove there will help you. remember not every out has to be a strike out but most of all Have A Blast

YOU SHOULD NOT USE TRAINING BALLS! NEVER EVER THROW A BALL THAT IS HEAVIER THEN A BASEBALL. Use a dumbell with different biceps, triceps, shoulder and forearm exercises to strengthen your arm. Also, play long toss for about 5-8 minutes. Throw the ball out, kind of like a deep pass in football.

I have to agree with Ryan on not using the training balls. In the book "The bad Guys Won!" it says that Mookie Wilson ruined his shoulder throwing ball that were wet and therefore too heavy, that's how Dykstra became the Mets regular Centerfielder. I agree with the long toss idea as well, of course I think the funnest way to do is Catching Fungos and throwing them accurately back to the hitter.
