you need to have a lot of stamina to keep up with the physical endurance. Start running, situps, pushups, jump rope. You can also try lifting weights. You need strong legs to run the bases and the outfield. You need strong arms for swinging the bat (hit a home run). Good luck!

    Nick,
I agree with Shannon about stamina-especially running. But more importantly you need to spend a lot of time in batting practice. If you can't hit well, you simply won't play in high school.

Hey dude, I play college baseball now, and I remember trying out for my high school team as a freshman. I'd say the most important thing is to get a lot of reps in, taking some BP and groundballs or flyballs. Coaches are looking for freshman who show they have some skill, physical always helps, but a player who looks like they really know how to play will always make the team. Physical workouts that I do for my college team now include running a lot, both long distance and shorter sprints. Also some lifting, with lifting some work on your arms are good, but I would focus the most on your core and power, you can use medicine balls and different core and ab workouts for that. Good luck man, and remember to not get to nervous, know that you are prepared and deserve a spot on that roster. Also, make sure to assert yourself in the tryout. Try to play a key position if given the opportunity, dive, steal a bag, just play hard, the players who stand out are the ones that are hustling the hardest. Good luck

How do you get rid of an assistant coach that yells @ the kids to much and for the wrong reasons. I want to let him off lightly.
