My daughter started at nine as well (she's 11 now). The first thing I did was enroll her in the rec programs offered by the city. Almost every city (or nearby) has a parks and rec department. Just call them and ask when does the season start.

Next step up, find out your zoned Middle and High School has volleyball teams. If so, ask the coaches about camps and clubs. The super step...Search online for Volleyball Clubs in your area. This is one of the most expensive, and intensive training route so check on your child's desire level. Check under usavolleyball.org or actually ovr.org (Ohio Valley Region) and search under clubs. AAUsports.org also has a list of clubs.

To inspire her, go to any volleyball game that's out there. It's the quickest way to teach her how to behave and play. I took my daughter to a middle/high school game, then an FSU and Olympic qualifiying game, she was a different person and turning into a great player.

    Good luck!
