Yes it is illegal if it is under the foot. You can hold the ankle, over the bases hand, and on the toe. (This is if you are doing a one man.)

i don't know about all of that. . . but i'm a back spot and i only hold the ankle because i feel like i support it more. and i dont now if its just me as a back spot or what. . . but i think its hard to try and grab under the foot because there is no room and plus its easier for u to fall because of no support to the ankle!

If a back spot holds under the flyers foot it is more dangerous for the flyer. If the flyer should fall backwards the back spot is so far under the stunt that the flyer is more likely to hit the ground and injure both people. If you bases cannot hold the wieght maybe they should be moved.

you can only hold the ankle, that way you can control the flier. this keeps her foot stiff and keeps her from falling. i know it was confusing to me too, i loved doing this stuff.

a back spotter can NOT hold underneath the flyers foot. If the back spotter holds under the foot, that person now becomes an additional base and you are now stunting without a back spotter.

it is illegal for the back spot to hold the foot of the flyer..they may hold the ankle, if they can reach it, or support the wrists of the side spots...thinking about the physics of the stunt, holding the foot may cause the flyer to have a false sense of security and 'heel' the extention; thus throwing off the center of gravity making it unsafe...

Everyone should be aware of the rules and safety for themselves and their team but you also need to remember that you have to Respect your coach. If you have a misunderstanding or think something is wrong and you have a hard time telling your coach you need to find another way instead of calling her out because she will lose respect for you too and its a downhill battle after that.
