    Hi Grant,

It's definitely a good idea to where a protective cup while playing football. It's common for that equipment not be provided by the football program -- the players needs to provide their own.

It may seem embarrassing or scary to ask you parents, but it's really no different than needing new sneakers. As you grow up, your clothes and equipment become too small for you, and you need new ones. Simple as that.

If you need some help bringing the topic up with your parents, you could write down a list of a few things you need for school/sports, including the protective cup, and give the list to your mom or dad.

    Good luck with your season!

It's a good idea to wear a protective cup for safety purposes. Kmart has youth cups at a very reasonable price, as well as other equipment you might find useful.
