Play a low impact sport soccer, basketball, track, take a job as a basketball ref at your local recreation league. Make a workout schedule, get teamates involved you probably know your own answer ? remember why football doesn't go year round? nobody would be left to play!

Do a lot of body weight exercises, eat healthy (lots of green veggies), and get about 30 35 min of cardio 3-4 days out of the week, and get plenty of rest.
