You will have to answer that question yourself, sorry but you have a rough road ahead of you if you want to pitch. If you can be happy at first or second base you can return there faster then left field, short, third, center, right, catcher, pitcher get the picture, re-hab isn't fun but if you want it your chances improve.

I think that you mean rotator cuff. If that is the case, then I would agree with Toby in his advice. It will take a lot of rehab to bring you back to the level of play that you may want. Playing first base allows you to very rarely make throws, but hitting/swinging may still be difficult. You have a long road to recovery, but you will play again if you really want to!

I have seen many players recover from injuries and return to form. It's entirely possible. You have some work ahead of you with rehab and getting your strength back to protect the shoulder so your recovery will depend on your work ethic as well.

Something that is overlooked in injury recovery is the mental aspect. You don't want to spend all the time in rehab and get back to form only to mentally hold back when you return to play.

I can recommend a website with an injury recovery manual - www.byebyeblocks.com scroll down to the Injury Recovery E-book and following that protocol will speed recovery.

A few points I'd like to mention about this:

    1. I receive no compensation if you go to this site
    2. I have used the techniques with great success (fortunately for something other than rotator cuff injuries)
    3. I would like to hear from you if you decide to use it.
    4. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

    Best of luck

    Pat

Have it fixed first then have some therapy. You will see also the extent of how bad the injury is. When therapy is over and you have your shoulder functioning correctly increase your strength and continue strengthening your shoulder with proper conditioning.
