i dont thinks so cause i only thought you could hand off then throw it back wards or immediately after the hike throw it up the field (sorry for the non-football language )

Should be legal. If you have an inside handoff and they drop the ball it is a fumble, so it is not considered a pass. You can't make 2 forward passes during the same play, as long as it is a handoff and not a pitch I think it is legal.

I may be wrong. By definition I think Shayne is right, I will have pull out a rule book to see if there is an exception. Because if not then a runningback that gets a inside hand off gets no rushing yards and the QB would be credited with a completed pass, which I know they don't.

My recollection is that its legal as long as the RB doesn't cross the line of scrimmage.

I have a game tonight I will ask the official. I did read in the NCAA rules a clause that says as long as it is a handoff(not a toss) it is considered a handoff (not a pass) as long as it is behind the line of scrimmage.
