I have 16 football players, only 4 are giving their best. How do I get the others to get motivated and work?

Our record is one and three, the only reason for the one win was that the team we played were awful. Only three have ever played any kind of organized sports before, so it goes wothout saying that discipline is an issue. The kids hit hard in practice, but come game time it goes south. These are 9-11 year old mites. Our main problems are the offensive line won't block, and our defensive secondary can't defend against the pass or make open field tackles. Any advice at all would be an answer to prayer.

the thing is you have to bribe them, maybe if you give the 4 that putting effort to rewards and not the others, and if they also want an award they'll play better as well, thnks mr.jordan.

To go with the bribe concept, our defensive coordinator promises "taco tuesday" if the defense shuts out the other team. It really is all about the kids learning that the coaches can coach, but the players have to play.

I use the sandwich technique. Praise them with something they do positive. Then give tem something to work on and always follow up with a positive. The positive is the bread but the meat is the negative. They will notice you have talked twice on what you said positively but only once on the negative.
