I'd suggest going to a shop with a good selection and trying on different brands/styles. Find out what fits well in a squat and throwing, then go home and check eBay or Craigslist.

I agree, My daughter started with a used set of Diamond gear and liked it. As she grew I picked up another used set of Diamond Leggings and all was well. I thought I was going to get her this really great gift of a brand new set of Easton Synergy Leggings and Easton Facemask and the Mizuno Samari chest protector in matching team colors and although she liked the looks, she disliked the feel. The leggings were very narrow and deep sided so they squeezed her legs (also ended up cracking all the way down the front of one in only a few games), she didn't care for the feel of the shock foam in the helmet as it is very stiff and uncomfortable, and the padding in the Mizuno chest protector was also alot harder and she didn't like the lack of give when she squatted.

In short, what I thought was going to be a great gift that I picked out was basically a waste of money as she prefers to wear her old used diamond gear. Definitely let your daughter try on different gear to decide which feels good to her. :)

My daughter is only 11 but a very tall girl. She LOVES Wilson's gear, long enough and thick enough for her legs, but not too bulky she says.
