what is the best way to run a sweep play in 8-9 age group. Should there be a lead blocker and a dive motion to freeze the linebackers?

We run the wing-t offense but experienced problems early on when we tried to pull lineman to block for the half back when we had our fullback diving and filling in for the backside guard when he was pulling. The backside guard had a problem in reaching the play before the halfback could get to the corner. so we stopped pulling that guard and had the fullback lead the play instead of diving him to fill for the pulling guard. But it seems to me that it is to obvious now and we have to many tacklers meeting the play.

Who is going to kickout the defensive end without a lead blocker. Unless a DE is craching, he should be able to blow the sweep up everytime. Is your guard slow or does he just not have enough reps. Other alt. - you may have tried some of this stuff but I will throw it out anyway. Have the guard line up so his hands in the three point stance are at the hip of the center. No er. Other thing make sure his foot work ise correct if the center can get any push at all your guard should be turning not backing up when he pulls. You can always trying pulling the play side guard if he has no one heads up on him.

Your TE go after the outside lb? and psguard go after the corner? If that is the case I would have your fullback dive hit the psguard hole and seal the inside Lb and if he not around go after the Safety.
