One that I use that seems to work well for fielding is to have the players start at third and hit one to them there to throw to first and by the time they release the throw I am already hitting one to short and so forth to second and so forth to the pitchers circle. The point of this drill is to focus on getting to the ball and being hurried to make throws to the bag, BUT to do them with consistancy.
Another is to have the team in the down and ready position with their backs turned and to hit the ball to them and make them react and make the play. Yell "HIT" just before you actually hit as the cue to turn around, but don't let them know who you are hitting it to. What this does is force them to pick up on the ball visually and then make the play, which reduces their reaction time. When they master this then tell them if they can make the play not looking, then there is no reason they cannot make the play while facing the batter.

William,
I see that you have posted many questions and since William is not a typical name for a 10 year old girl, I am assuming you are begining to coach or are a very proactive dad of a new softball player. If I am wrong I apologize, if not check out mycoachonline.com.Although I had played youth baseball, I will have to admit that softball skills and coaching was a whole different animal fo me. Several years ago while trying to find info. I came across the website above. I don't know what it cost now, but it was the best $44 dollars for a year subscription that I could have ever got. There are hundreds of short tips, drill, and skill videos from college coaches and players. I had bought some books but it didn't do it for me like watching a video with explanations and breakdowns of the skills. I haven't signed up or looked at it for a couple of years now, but I assume it is still the same. I turned other friends on to it and they thought it was well worth it. Good luck
