I'm an LSU guy but this post from a Nebraska fan applies to defending the spread at any level: http://www.cornnation.com/2008/10/3/627696/the-spread-offense-how-can Good luck!
And, PS... get your team on Weplay. Thousands of Pop Warner programs are on board. Take care -- T.J.

i think the 4-4 defenes would be the best defenes 2 run.

3 4 defense

it would depend on the age group, the passing characteristics of the team you are playing, strength of their running game, etc. I coached a 8-10 year-old defense last year. We ran into a spread O, but knowing that you can hardly pass at this age - I blitzed them like crazy, from all over the field - they rarely got a pass off and most runs were at least met in the back field. I did that from a spread-out 4-4 with 1 or 2 LBs blitzing every play

Run the 35, you can spread out and still attack. It's a fast and aggressive style of D but the kids will have fun with it. You can also shift into a 53 to attack short yardage and goal line.

BEING A DEFENSE COACH I WOUKD SAY A 3-5-3 OR A 4-4 WOULD BE THE BEST FOOR A SPREAD AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOME SMART LB AND A GOOD BLITZ PACKAGE..
