Question
My boys won a scrimmage today against a team they had completely overmatched. We pulled our backs if they scored and our starters only played about 10 minutes of a 45 minute scrimmage. At the end, the kids on the other team looked dejected. These boys worked very hard and had nothing to be embarrassed about. I hope their coaches told them that.

I have actually been there, what I did was put my smallest guys on the line and let some of my more uncoordinated kids run the ball between the tackles. Should if nothing else slow your team down.

Very good question... Awhile back a girl H/S team won a game 100 to 0 and a
bunch of talk went around about this and some really good stuff was brought up..
For the life of me I can't remember what sight I was on or any thing about it but
maybe somebody may be able to beep in later about it...
Not sure of the age group but I was always told that you should never tell players
to slow down because that's when you get hurt, kind of thing... Even took a knee a
couple of times in a run-away game and got booed ... WOW guess I would have to
be there to maybe make adjustments with players and play calls... Run a 4th string
qb. send receivers long knowing he can't throw that far and let him throw ducks...
Really I don't know sorry... -
Jason,
No matter what the situation, your players must be coached to play to the best of their ability. It is up to the coach then to work on weaknesses of his own team. The other team can tell when they've been dismissed, which will destroy their confidence even more. Don't allow your boys to become arrogant. -
Good point Jack
