I have some basic cheers but not sure what motions go with the cheers

I volunteered to be a coach for my daughter's cheerleading team. However, I don't know where to start. My teams is 5-6 yrs old . I have some of the basic cheers but not sure what motions go with the cheers. Do I just make them up or is there certain motion for certain words .. Please help.

there are certain words that go with certain motion...but it also depends on the cheer and what the words are. my advice to u would be to do the simple motions and teach them the simple motions if they dont already know them, then let them here the words so they can get to know them and u ca put the motions together with the words. if u mail me the words i can help u with the motions. also keeping in mind that they are 5 and 6 yr olds!!!!

    1. Thank you so much ... Here are a few cheers that I want to do tomorrow.

      1. Two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar, all for the cowboys stand up and holler..

      2. Big G Little O , Go Go.

      3. I said a move, move, move get out of our way, the cowboys are back and we're ready to play.

I am not sureif they are chants or cheers. IS thre a difference is the two regarding motions.

    4. the first cheer is basically a chant to get the crowd involved in the game. there's some motions and a part where they can do a jump or even a standing backhandspring if they can tumble. if they're beginners they would do a jump, such as a toe touch, pike, left/right hurkey or hurdler. or even a pixie jump for starters....at our football games we do those when they have timeouts or when you want the crowd to get involved. the motions are very simple and easy.. they are...

on two bits jump out to a high V (in other words they should look like an X) then clap on the pause, then do a low V on four bits then clap on 'hey six bits' then prep for a jump and hit a highV on "a dollar".. then jump on 'all for the' and they should be down on cowboy.. then hit a broke T on yr tippy toes on 'stand' and then squat down punching your arms across your chest like a low X on 'up' then jump out in a X (a high V) on holler. and they can do spirit fingers when they jump out.if you want i can make a video

    for the cheer

    We're big, B-I-G
    We're bad, B-A-D
    We're boss, B-O-S B-O-S-S, Boss!

point to yourself when it says we're .... clap at the same time you spell big, bad, bos then do your favorite jump while saying/spelling B-O-S-S Boss!

I personally think you should go over some cheers you made up , on your own timee make up some motions to doo with them, now 5-6 years olds are young but they will catch on quickly just make the cheer FUN and not to easy cuss they will get bored withh itt.. But thats he bet i can tell you HOPE it works for you..

Im actually in the same boat. I was a cheerleader when I was younger but over the years I forgot them or they changed the words. I coach 7-9yr olds, mine isn't so much the cheers it's the dance, so we have practice tomorrow to do Hannah Montana's new song "the Hoedown" looks fun. Another thing Ihave done is asked the parents to be involved when possiable b/c I seen last year several things I did not like so thats one of the reasons I decided to do this,we are a team therefore we should all participate as a team.JMO..I iwsh you luck..

Hey guys I'm new on here, I am also new at coaching. I coach 24 5th graders. Unfortantly at this time I do not have an assitant coach. So the more help the better since I was never a cheerleader myself.

ok, on the big G little O... we do feet apart big (left hand on hip right in dagger) G (extend the dagger straight out in front on you) then clap twice, Little (switch it, right hand on hip, left in dagger) O (extend you dagger straight out in front of your body)

I have all kinds of activites too. I have school, swimming, band, and I also go to a boarding school so I'm always worried about my family at home. We have lots of expectations where we live including chores, community service, attitude cooperation, etc. The best way to handle everything is to get yourself a schedule book and plan out every minute of your day. It may seem very unecessary, but it's worth it when you are not stressed and overwhelmed by your activities. Make sure you leave time to study. Good Luck and Merry Christmas.
