I'm not a wide reciever, but I have been. All I used to do was run over the corner back, run my route
and get open. And make sure you catch the ball. If you want, in Walmart, they have very cheap
football gloves in the sports section. That helps alot. Good luck!

Wide Receivers do more than run routes and catch balls. First things first. Learn to block. (ala Hines Ward). When you block, use your quick feet to your advantage and stay in front of your man, get low and pop your hands into his shoulders and drive him back. You would be surprised what an impact it has on a coach/scout to see a WR block! Also, work on changing direction without slowing down too much. You want to drop your weight when you make your cuts. This will allow you to make them quicker. Run routes whenever you have free time. Take extra time with your QB so he is used to your routes and how you run them. Don't get caught up in this Randy Moss type studder step off of the line, trying to juke the CB takes time that the QB may not have. To catch the ball, you need relaxed hands that are still stong enough to catch the ball, so work on calming yourself down if you think the ball is coming your way. If you tighten up, you will drop it. And last but not least, be agressive when the ball is in the air. That ball is YOURS! NOBODY ELSE CAN TOUCH IT. They have to get their filthy stinking hands off YOUR ball. Go get 'em!

Tye hit on alot. Not sure how old you are but if you are 12 or younger one of the biggest mistakes I see are kids using the body to trap the ball. Work on catching the ball with just your hands.

All points well taken... Maybe try this... When the play is away from your side
which may happen at times either block your man or run a nice crisp route to
keep him off guard ... Good coaches should demand this but they should also
keep notice that you yourself may get winded and need a break at times... I'm
trying to say run this corner into the dirt and set him up for when it is the time
when the ball will be comming your way... There's no place on a football field to
take a play off... Give that second effort but do tell your coach or ask his opinion...
