The key to hitting is seeing the ball. The basics of hitting are see the ball, hit the ball. A hitter should try to watch the ball hit the bat.

    1. THE TIME TO CHOKE UP IS WHEN THERE ARE 2 STRIKES AND YOU DON'T WANT TO STRIKE OUT. FOR POWER THE HANDS HAVE TO BE NEAR THE END OF THE BASEBALL BAT.

One word. "Balance" There are alot of different swings out there. Just watch a pro
game and you can see that almost none of them do the same thing at the plate.
The one thing that they do is stay balanced thru their swing.

POWER comes from your swing and follow through. When we tell kids to drive through the ball, we are trying to get them to get more power on their hit. This usually means they have all the right stuff but they are not pushing through their follow-through. When you hit the ball, focus on driving your back leg into the pitch. I agree that balance is key but every swing has basics from top to bottom. Every pro player with start their swing differently but they all drop into a level, balanced position, keeping their heads down, and driving through their follow-through. Arm strength is big, bat speed important, but power is the driver.

A lighter bat gives more speed which will give you more strength. Try hitting basket balls. It causes you to break on time and you have to follow through in order to hit the ball harder. Switch in between softballs and basketballs. It helps with accuracy as well.
