Use basketballs for batting practices. Put a bucket upside down and put something on it as a target such as a helmet and have them throw the softball and try to knock the object off the bucket. Also, you can half the team. Put half on first base line and the other on 3rd base line. Have them throw back and forth to the player across from them. When ever they throw and catch to eachother without missing, give them a point. If they miss the catch, take away a point. Give your kids points everytime they make a correct play on your drills and keep track of the points. Offer a reward to the player with the most points at the end of each week or month and one big reward for whom ever gets the most points at the end of the season. Point systems are great motovational techniques for players.
