When I shoot a three-pointer I can barely get the ball to the basket. Any tips?

I am shorter so one of my only options is to shoot long twos or three-pointers. I don't really have to much muscle on me but I'm working on it. I need some help.

Try to create power by bending your knees when you shoot. Your legs can help generate power and improve your three-point shooting.

First, you must make sure your muscle memory is great. So I'd suggest you start out shooting 100 shots from different angles a few feet from the basket in a chair ( A rebounder would makes this go smoother). Once you have your memory down you should start taking as many shots from different areas anywhere from 8-15 feet. As you get more consistent you can move back a couple feet. Also, your triceps are what give you range, so doing military push-ups, side-tri-rises, tricep extensions, and other tricep workouts will help you with range.

It's all in the technique and fundemetal of shooting a basketball. The same way you shoot an eight-footer,is the same way you shoot a twenty-nine-footer.

"Pass the ball" - that's funny! It may all be about your aim. Try looking at the back of the rim, and shoot with an arc (like the McDonalds arc). Make sure your arms are extended and not to the side of your head. Try this new technique closer to the rim, and as it gets easier start backing up to the 3pt line. Good luck, and happy shooting.

The problem is "you are trying to shoot outside your current range!" The good advice on this board is to become an expert: develop your accuracy in close and extend the range "only" after mastering that distance. Furthermore, shooting is an art and there is technique involved. Watch this video I made in the park (no warm up). Then download the document regarding shooting. Here's the links. By the way, I am an expert and can shoot with either hand. Practice makes perfect "as long as the practice makes sense."

P.S. The document gives you all the information you need to be a "great shooter" with practice. Even when you make a shot--it is still possible that your shot/form/technique is/was flawed. The task is to find all the flaws in my technique regardless of how many I make and I make quite a few!
