there's a BIG difference between throwers and pitchers. He should be spotting his fastballs and learning to throw an off-speed more than worring about how hard he throws. Like Henry said above me there, 55 or so is fast enough, especially if he can spot his pitches on/off the plate combined with his favorite off-speed.
We ahve big kids playing 12U that are in the high 60's, but only hit the strike zone 30% of the time. The better hitters will DRILL kids like this by dropping the bat on the ball and using the ball for the momentum OR they will be patient and draw a walk. Pitchers like that will absolutely kill a team. Four pitches going 75MPH before three strikes is a walk in any league.

MAYBE????? BUT IS THAT 68 WITH CONTROL???? THAT IS THE REASON THAT THEY HIRED 1,300 PRO SCOUTS. ALL THE PARENTS MAKE IT SOUND LIKE THE NEXT BABE RUTH BUT ALL THEY DO IS WASTE THE SCOUTS TIME AND EFORT. AT A PRO TRYOUT 80% OF THE PLAYERS KNOW VERY LITTLE AND THEIR SKILLS ARE SO POOR THAT THEY ARE CUT EARLY. WWW.HENRYSBASEBALLCLUB.COM 781 891 0621

    1. Good enough to be taking his team to the Dixie world series- probably 75% accuracy during the state playoffs pitched 13 innings and walked none. We dont like walks. He may be an exception the pitching coaches like him very rarely does he throw anything except fast balls has 2 change ups and knows but rarely throws curves or sliders- He broke his elbow in december but has healed nicely.
