Years ago when I played ball our coach used something he called "amonia water" to keep us cool. Anyone knw where this can be found?

    I've never heard of it either. I might Google "amonia water for sports" and see what happens. You never know.....

    Major League Baseball teams use ammonia towels. I don't know how it works. As far as I know you don't drink it but rather soak a towel with it. Usually the team trainer towels down the starting pitcher when he comes to the bench. Most MLB teams use a colored towel as the "Ammonia towel" so as not to confuse it with a dry towel, which is usually white.

    You make it yourself, however I don't know the mixture, but I would think one part amonia to two parts water. You do want to be sure that you can smell the amonia, but not too strong. You keep colored towels soaking and when it is in the heat of the summer, you use the towels around your neck/arms and it keeps you more alert and less fatigued. Also, must still stay hydrated
