Here's an article from
USA Today's Website by Bob Nightengale about Kid Pitch.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre will spend all spring training answering questions about the McCourts' marriage, Manny's dreadlocks and the back end of the rotation.
Yet, for one afternoon this past week, he took the high, hard ones by a group of kids on the new Hot-Stove baseball show for kids called "Kid Pitch,'' which airs beginning Sunday at 10:30 a.m. across the country on Fox Sports Net.
"Joe was asked who was his favorite player growing up,'' says executive producer Brad Wyman, "and he just went blank.''
The answer was Willie Mays.
"Kid Pitch,'' the only baseball show dedicated to kids, is hosted by relatives of several celebrities: Chance King, the son of CNN host Larry King;, RJ Peete, son of actress Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete; and Eugene Wyman, grandson of Rosalind Wyman, the Los Angeles politician who helped bring the Dodgers to Los Angeles.
Actor Tom Arnold will be regular guest celebrity, the kids' manager, with planned special appearances by such actors as Charlie Sheen and Kevin Costner; actress Alyssa Milano; and softball star Jenny Finch. The show will also be produced by Entertainment Tonight host Mary Hart and her husband Burt Sugarman, a longtime producer.
"Our show is about all things great about baseball,'' Wyman said. "It's a show every kid in America can be part of. Baseball is America's greatest sport. Any kid that wants to play it, or comment on it, are welcome to be on our show.''
