Why Start (or be a part of) a Group?

I've heard some confusion here and there from some members about our different group types and what each mean. I will use this post to expand upon the information provided in our general FAQ section.

Why start a group?

- Anybody can create a group to provide a single destination for your team or league to hang out and get updates, shout out and promote your favorite sport, create a family page to discuss, post a schedule, share media and connect up with all your favorite groups and more. Groups can be utilized for all types of purposes.

- Groups currently provide an event schedule, member list, news blog, activity feed, photo and video gallery, comments/guestbook, and a "Linked Groups" page for other groups your friends with or officially affiliated.

- When scheduling an activity, you can add anything from a practice to carpool pick-up to photo day.

- Events from all groups you belong to will filter down and can be sorted on your personal dashboard/profile schedule.

- Invite your friends on or outside of weplay with the convenient invite tools provided on the top right of your group profile. You also have the option to use your own e-mail and send out a special "join" link.

- You assign as many people as you want to help you organize and update your group.

We currently offer 7 group types:

Team - any sports team needing a roster and a way to post general activities as well as games and results

Group - this serves as our "other" category and is for any type of group such as a youth sports organization or governing body, league administrators, fan group, best baseball equipment, etc.

Camp - summer, day, clinics, whatever type of camp

League - any sports league (connect with your teams using the Linked Groups feature)

Tournament - any sports tournament

Family - for immediate or extended families to connect

Officials - referees, umpires, judges or linesman

Parent - PTA, concession volunteers, carpoolers, mom and dad sports support group, etc.

For more information on Linked Groups (available to all group types), see my previous post on the topic at http://www.weplay.com/groups/72-The-Huddle/posts/420.
