Only seventeen days left until the badminton Olympic draw on July 26th! The draw will take place at the Henan Plaza Hotel in Beijing and was moved from the original August 4th date, which was too close to the actual games on August 8th. Players from over 50 countries have qualified to compete, so all are nervously awaiting the results. These athletes include men and women who play singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Past winning countries include China, Indonesia and Korea, but who knows which country-perhaps an underdog such as Canada, will dominate this year. These Olympic games are different, especially for badminton players, because of Beijing's unique facility, the best ever in Olympic history. The gym includes 7000 spectator seats and air conditioning vents underneath so the birdie isn't affected and can fly normally, which was a common problem in large gymnasiums. Be sure to stay tuned to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) website throughout the day to see which athletes will be competing in the Olympic games!
