Kansas City Here I Come

Hey everyone, especially to all my great campers out there on Weplay! We are here in Kansas City just finishing up another amazing week with like 40-plus kids. It has been absolutely great getting to know and work with you all!
The level of talent is actually quite high on this field and the enthusiasm is great. It is just us girls here this time and the kids are all so amazing. Unfortunately we had some rain, but that did not dampen our spirits, did it? The nice thing about going inside is we dont have to worry about the wind or the heat. And prior to K.C., we had a great mix of younger and older players in Reno and Carson City, two camps in Nevada.
You know, with camp, it is always tough because everyone signs up on their own so you're not quite sure who and what you are gonna get. When you have that kind of mix, boys and girls from 6 years old to 17, it can be challenging for the coaching staff because you have to find things that will test the older players but are not too high for the young ones.
The message that we try and get out at these camps, is that the development of each player is truly up to them. Not to say that we do not fall into the equation, but, that we can give them the information that they need and they are expected then by us, to do it at their best, not to just, go through the drills.
That is also what I want even the veterans of the other camps here on Weplay to remember: You guys did a great job and we really enjoyed being out there with you. But I want you to continue to work on the things that we did. The work we do in camp is not just for the four or five days we're out on the field. Those are bits of advice, and bits of technique that they can use every single day, in your own practices and on their own. And always remember that you are in charge of getting better. So use your time wisely.
