Any football coaches in the group?
As opposed to me saying, do this with your arm, I want you to try that with your leg....etc.
An example, the other day I was working with a young baseball player who has been resistant to change in the past. I saw something that could have been a big help to him. I asked him if he is open to experimenting on something. He was very open then.
Something I've really been working on are better ways to connect with the player. One way I've seen work well is to "ask" permission to coach. Not nessarily to ask, but word your instructions in a way the player is receptive to learning. Any thoughts?
GU-14 Select Soccer Coach from North Whidbey Soccer Club in Oak Harbor, WA. I have had this team since they were U-11 and they are a great group of girls as well as dedicated soccer players. Look forward to chatting with some fellow coaches.
