Well it's about time! Jiu-Jitsu has long been practiced in Oregon. But Lobo's Jiu-Jitsu Academy, which will soon be celebrating its Grand Opening with a three-day seminar in Clackamas Oregon (a Portland suburb), is the first authentic studio of its kind in the state.

Full disclosure, one of my good friends from the University of Oregon Mario Sifuentez, is a founding owner. But with such a strong list of legendary Jiu-Jitsu practitioners supporting the gym's opening, my ties to Mario do little to devalue the credit of the gym.

Here are just a few of the most widely known Jiu-Jitsu practitioners helping to open Oregon's new studio:

*Pedro Sauer, known for his superb technical skills and more than 20-years of teaching experience.

*Relson Gracie, son of the legendary Helio Graci. He was the Brazilian National Champion for 22 years straight and is currently the highest ranking experienced Jiu-Jitsu practitioner actively teaching the US.

*Luis Heredia, Ricardo "Rey" Diogo and of course, Anibal Lobo will also participate in the grand opening of Lobo's Jiu-Jitsu Academy on Friday July 11.

It's always great to see new studios (of any style) opening across the nation. But this one hits home for me. It's about time Oregon. I wish Lobo's Jiu-Jitsu Academy the best of luck over the coming months. I know I'll be stopping by whenever I'm in Oregon.
