I'm really proud of the effort and improvement I've seen on all the boys the past couple games. That was a terrific run from down 17-6 to pulling within one to be 26-25 with five minutes left in the game. Unfortunately, we caught a few bad breaks and let them go on a 12-0 run to close the game and make it a look a lot more lopsided than it really was.

I am also especially proud of the way everybody played against the Cobras on July 12th. That game came right down to the wire and losing 36-32 to a team with bigger, more experienced kids is actually very impressive. We played the Cobras much better in the second game and there's no question all the parents and fans from both teams were very entertained for 40 minutes of basketball.

I spoke with Max McArthur, of the Boys and Girls Club, and he told me that there are two teams, the Lakers and the Pineapples, that have been getting killed by everybody. This is why the schedule has changed so that the better teams play each other more often.

That said, of the six teams in the 3rd and 4th grade division, four of them are pretty good and we've played the top two teams. I've requested we play the Black Top Ballers for the August 2nd game instead of the Cobras for the third time and Max is going to see what he can do to accommodate that. He didn't realize we'd be playing the same team for the third time.
