Notable Facts: In 2008, the team, at one point, had the longest active winning streak in the nation. In 2010, the Gaels received an automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Tournament, as a result of having won the the WCC Conference Tournament. Having beaten Gonzaga in the tournament final, it was the Gaels' second WCC tournament victory since the tournament began in 1987.[4] In the NCAA tournament, the Gaels won their first round game upsetting Richmond, and giving the college its first men's tournament win in 51 years. It took only two days to secure the next tournament win as they advanced to the Sweet Sixteen by upsetting second seeded Villanova, led by Omar Samhan with 32 points.
