Osborne "Ozzie" Smith was born December 26th, 1954 in Alabama. He attended college at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly). He played for four years with the San Diego Padres (1978 - 1981). He was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1982 and he played with them for the remainder of his career (1996). He has won the Golden Glove Award 13 times and he won the Silver Slugger Award (1987). He's also received the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award (1989), the Branch Rickey Award (1994) and the Alberto Clemente Award (1995). He was MVP of the 1985 National League Championship Series (NCLS). He and the cardinals won the 1982 World Series.
