Albert Pujols is the First Basemen for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was born January 16th, 1980. He is originally from the Dominican Republic but has lived in the U.S. since 1996. He became a U.S. Citizen in 2007. And, he and his family are active Christians.

He has played his entire Major League career for the Cardinals. During the 2001 season he was going to start for the Cardinal's AAA team but because of an injury of a player on the Cardinal's and Pujols' talent he started in the majors that year. He has now played nine seasons in the majors and is about to start his tenth season.

Throughout his career he has been named National League Rookie of the Month, NL Rookie of the Year and NL Player of the week (seven times), the NL Player of the Month (five times), the 2003 NL Batting Champion, the MVP of the 2004 NCLS, the National League MVP (three times), The Sporting News Player of the Year (three times), the ESPY Awards Best MLB Player (three times), the 2009 NL Home Run Champion, and the Sporting News MLB Player of the Decade. He's won the NL Batting Title, the 2005 National League MVP Award (three times), the 2006 Gold Glove Award, the Fielding Bible Award (four times), the Hank Aaron Award (twice), the 2008 Players Choice National League Outstanding Player of the Year (three times) and the Players Choice Player of the Year (three times), the 2008 Roberto Clemente Award, the Silver Slugger Award (five times), the 2008 'This Year in Baseball's' Hitter of the Year Award. He and his team won the World Series in 2006 and he's played as/been voted an All-Star 8 times. He has broken and holds so many records it is too much to list here.

He is very active in his community and does much to help the poor and disadvantaged. He and his wife started the Pujols Family Foundation which helps people with Downs Syndrome and their families. The Albert Pujols Wellness Center for Adults with Down's Syndrome has also just recently been launched. He helps the poor in the Dominican Republic by going there personally and giving them supplies and the help they need and also by hosting fundraisers so they can get the care they need.

He is an outstanding player AND an amazing example. He is a champion on and off the field!
