They American women are officially the best soccer players in the world. Both of the "gold medal" goals came off the foot of Carli LLoyd, as the US squad bested Team Japan by a score of 2-1. Phenomenal performances were also registered by Abby Wambach (pictured above), Hope Solo, and Alex Morgan.
This was a rematch of last years World Cup Final, and served as a redemption game for an American team that called the WC loss their worst ever. Inspriational co-captain Abby Wambach shed tears of joy after the win, as she grabbed an American flag and was visibly overwhelmed by the great moment. Abby missed the 2008 games, and she finally got a chance to redeem herself as an Olympic champion.
All-in-all this was a great win, during an epic Olympic games.
