Team Mom, Leslie Lee-Stone, has True Team Spirit

By Kim White

Hard work, responsibility and a commitment to family - that best describes our Team Parent of the Week, Leslie Lee-Stone from Mount Juliet, Tennessee. The 36-year-old mom has learned first hand that organizing a team is not always a piece of cake, which is why she gives nothing but her best for her 27 player team.

Lee-Stone is the proud team mom for the Mt. Juliet Bears B-Gray football and cheerleading team. A single mother of two, Tyreece, 10, an offensive lineman for the Bears, and Seacret, 16, a theater buff at Mt. Juliet High, Lee-Stone enjoys working with the Bears because it gives her extra time with her son. Additionally, helping the team offers her an opportunity to mentor and be a constant voice of support to each youth athlete.

Her favorite part of being a team mom is organizing and creating the Bear fan shirts each season. Her goal is to design a better shirt than the year before. The joy of producing a piece of memorabilia that draws out parent enthusiasm and makes them even more eager to support their child, is always Lee-Stone’s goal.

Besides, she’s also taken notice to the fact that while the parents love sportin’ the shirts, her players are even more committed to wearing them off the field! Even though they’re just shirts, Lee-Stone has found that they are a very effective way to connect the entire team and build up pride.

Check out the design she has planned so far for this season:

Working full time as Senior Account for the Oreck Corporation, Lee-Stone is committed to balancing her time in the office with her duties at home and on the field with the Bears. And we know the entire Bears team is very appreciative of her efforts.

Congratulations again to our Team Parent of the Week, Leslie Lee-Stone. She truly knows how to spread her team spirit! Go Bears!

Lee-Stone’s Recommendations for Fellow Team Mom’s:

  1. USE WEPLAY! It will give you the opportunity to coordinate everything in a one stop shop. Ditch the snack list, ditch passing out directions to games, and WOW the gallery is spectacular.

  2. Encourage Parent Support on Day 1. As soon as your team is picked and you get to meet your parents for the first time, be well prepared to speak to them and let them know what to expect for the season. Give out your contact info that night, and be prepared to answer lots of questions.

  3. Make Sure you Watch the Game. Sometimes you can be so overwhelmed with the coordination of activities that you find yourself in the 4th quarter wondering where did the time go. It is important to your child that you balance well between working for the team as the Team Mom and being there for the child as his/her mom.
