FC Barcelona has long been a powerhouse in European soccer. During the 2009 season, the Spanish-based club accomplished something that no team before them has been able to do. They became the first team ever to win the Champions League, the Spanish Premier League, and the King's Cup in the same year. They are among the most successful football clubs in history, and definitely worth taking a look at.

Since being founded in 1899, they have won 3 UEFA Champions League titles, 19 Spanish League titles, and 25 Spanish Cups. Throughout the years Barcelona has been home to world class players such as Diego Maradona, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho. Because of their successful 2009 campaign, they are now the unanimous champions of Europe. Many fans believe that the 2009 FC Barcelona squad is the greatest soccer team of all time.

Great soccer demands great fans, and there is no shortage of either in Barcelona. Each game, the fans rally behind their squad in giant numbers. Nou Camp, their home field, is one of the most exciting sporting arenas in the world. The fans get especially excited when Barca plays their biggest rival, Real Madrid. Real Madrid is the only team in the Spanish Premier League that challenges Barca for the title each year. The rivalry dates back over a century, and can get very exciting.

The most notable member of the Barca squad is Lionel Messi. He netted 26 goals during Barca's 2009 season. Messi was crowned Footballer of the Year 2009, the highest honor that can be given to a European Soccer Player. He will represent Argentina, his home country, in this summer's FIFA World Cup.
