11-year-old Adeline, a.k.a Addy, is a standout softball player who dreams of playing in the Women’s National Pro Fastpitch league, just like her idol Jennie Finch. Who knew she’d earn the title of Weplayer of the Month along the way as well!
Addy, who sports #10, is currently in the midst of a stellar season with the Nitro 99 travel team in North Huntingdon, PA. One of her best memories on the softball field took place during a wet, rainy game when she stole home.
Down 2-3 in her first fastpitch tournament, Addy was on third base with her best friend at bat. Her teammate connected with the ball, and Addy bolted to home plate.
“My coaches yelled up, up, up. I stepped on the plate and...CRASH. I took out the other team's catcher,” wrote Addy. Then, as she walked down the dugout steps, Addy’s coach asked why she slide when the ball was well in the backfield? Addy responded, saying she didn’t slide - she fell! “We all laughed and for the rest of the tournament and still today, we call it ‘The Grand Entrance’,” Addy shared.
Addy’s team organizer, Lori B, has kept the team stories rolling on their Weplay page. She’s done a great job activating the Nitro players this season and keeping parents engaged and informed. However, Addy said that she personally enjoys using Weplay to connect with her teammates and friends from afar. Of course, she also keeps on eye out for Nitro practice times and discussions.
Congrats on your Weplayer of the Month award, Addy. Keep up the effort on the field, in school and on Weplay!
