Nearly a century ago on Dec. 15, 1925, New York's high society celebrated the grand opening of the uptown Madison Square Garden (third location) as the Regimental bands and the Montreal Canadiens took to the ice for the first N.H.L game in the city.
The legendary arena was filled to capacity with 17,000 jubilantly cheering fans roaring from their seats.
