Legendary Coach John Wooden once said, “Winning takes talent, to repeat takes character.”
Jason Strausbaugh of Hilliard, Ohio has showed his character by helping to build a perennial winner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, coaching both softball and basketball.
Coach Jason’s coaching journey began 18 years ago. His career as a coach has ranged from 5-6 year-olds to U-18. He is currently a U-10 coach. With four daughters ranging from 3 to 14-years-old, rest assured our Coach of the Week has many winning seasons ahead of him.
A college baseball player, Coach Jason found a new love in fastpitch softball and a way to brush off some of his years of experience. He has been with the Lady Saints program for four years and just last year produced a Catholic League championship. During his first year, he led the team to a runner-up finish, and has an overall 33-8 record as head coach.
Coach Jason’s love of coaching (and winning ways) extend to basketball as well. He also coaches basketball at Our Lady and has a career record of 67-8 with three Catholic League championships, one runner-up and four division championships.
Much of Coach Jason’s success can be attributed to both his knowledge of the game and his ability to will his kids in to working. He is strict, but makes sure that his teams have fun and enjoy their respective sports. In his owns words coach Jason wrote, "They know when it is time to go to work."
With the track record he has produced, we can be sure Coach Jason has many winning seasons and championships ahead of him.
