How One Team Mom Preps for Playoffs

By Kim White

Team Mexico, an 8-year-old and under soccer team from Eastvale, California has been dominating their league this season with a stellar 6-1-1 record. With playoffs around the corner, the boys are hoping to continue their winning streak all the way to the championship title. But their success wouldn't have been possible without their Team Mom, Sarah Lahmon.

Thanks to Lahmon's daily updates, encouraging props, and her attention to detail, Team Mexico could not be more prepared to take on the post season. She handles every task with ease all while having a full time job as pre-school teacher. But as Lahmon shared, her love of teaching and crafting has made many of her team duties more of pleasure than work.

In particular, she's all about organization. She uses skilled time management practices to create more free time for the team, so they can focus on skill building and team bonding as much as possible. Her personable attitude has helped everyone on the team feel more comfortable and understand that everyone is participating for the same reason - to have fun!

Family has always been very important to Lahmon, and she's glad to see so many of the parents eager to be involved with the team. One of her favorite moments during practice is the last 15 minutes when parents get to come on the field and have fun with their child. "Really brings families together,” wrote Lahom.

Lahmon and her husband Tom have two kids, Kyle, 11, and Kevin, 8. (Kevin is a Team Mexico player). As you can image, Lahom doesn't have much spare time while trying to keep up with her two active boys, which is why she has used Weplay to organizer their teams for the past two years. “I would never use another site,” commented Lahmon who loves how easy Weplay is to use.

Congratulations to our Team Mom of the Week, Sarah Lahmon of Corona, California. Good luck to Team Mexico in their playoff game next Tuesday!

Sarah Lahmon’s Recommendations for Fellow Team Moms:

  • Talk to your parents and players on a personal level. Make sure they know you are there to make their season a special one.

  • Quick notes to the players for a job well done with an ice cream treat coupon really goes a long way.

  • Remind everyone once a week how wonderful they are and how important it is to respect one another on and off the field.
