During his summer vacations in high school, Paul Cochrun, found his passion for coaching while working with his local parks and recreation baseball league. From that moment on, Cochrun, knew coaching would always be a part of his life. Our Coach of the Week's passion for youth sports was put on hold during college but that didn't stop him from finding his way back.
After college, Cochrun, became an English teacher at Petaluma High School in California. Becoming a teacher was the perfect career path for Cochrun because he not only got to teach but he had the opportunity to coach as well. His first role was with the junior varsity baseball team as an assistant coach, and again he was hooked!
It’s now been 13 years and four different coaching positions since he first came to the high school. He is currently the head varsity baseball and women’s golf coach. He is proud of the leader he has become, and knows that it would not have been possible if it wasn’t for all the lessons he had learned from older coaches throughout the years.
One of the many lessons he learned from his elders was that communication is key to developing relationships with all members of your team. For Cochrun, Weplay has been perfect component in keeping his baseball team’s parents and players connected. He uses Weplay mostly for schedule changes, event planning, and the photo gallery.
It looks like our Coach of the Week has found his niche at Petaluma High School. Good luck to you and your baseball team this season! The whole Weplay Team will be cheering you on.
