Albuquerque Academy High School junior Alex Bregman has been named USA Baseball Player of the Year. A second baseman, Bregamn is also a member of the 16-and-under national squad that earned the USA Baseball team of the year award.

The Richard W. "Dick" Case Player of the Year Award is a prestigious honor and Bregam represents the first youth-level player ever recognized.

Bregman's parents, Sam and Jackie, own the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, a local NBA development league.
